Two Web Belles: Shakin' It Up In Chicago

Today we, along with two of our former Penn State roommates, are packing up and heading out for a long weekend in the Windy City. In honor of our trip, this week's Web Belles is devoted to all things Chicago.

1. We're suckers for cupcakes. That's no secret. So when we saw that Phoebe's Cupcakes offers nearly 200 flavors of 'cakes on their Lakeview shop's catering menu, we were thinking of our dream taste testing lineup almost immediately. Sangria? French toast? Mexican hot chocolate? We could do this all day.

2. We are totally loving this engagement shoot from Jessika Feltz. The two locations - Wrigley Field and a lakeside beach - capture not only the character of the city, but the personality of the couple, so well. And isn't that exactly what you want out of an e-shoot? Oh, and the Belle who is a huge baseball fan is majorly jealous of the Wrigley access. So fun.

3. Nicole Pearl, "The Beauty Girl" is hosting a bridal beauty event at the Michelle Rahn Bridal Salon Wednesday, August 18th. Nicole has worked as a beauty writer and editor at many of our favorite guilty pleasure reads including US Weekly, Cosmopolitan, and In Style. The Insider Secrets to Bridal Beauty event will showcase Nicole's beauty tips for your big day, free eyebrow shaping, giveaways, and snacks! RSVP by Monday to michelle@michellerahn.com.

4. If you're newly engaged in the Windy City, you definitely want to check out
Chicago Style Weddings web edition. The digital mag is huge and chock full of vendor ideas and reception locations. Not on the third coast? It's still worth perusing for the twelve real wedding features with a diverse collection of inspiring photo spreads. Our favorite feature was the canary yellow and aquamarine style file. We've seen blue and yellow paired before, but the tuned up brightness give pages 24 and 25 an unexpected fun and summery twist.

5. We kind of wish we had the time (and a valid excuse) to try on gowns in White Chicago, the city's premier bridal consignment shop. The store looks to be taking the once-worn bridal game to the next level with searchable online listings and a 300+ gown inventory, both of which make it easy to find a designer gown for less than the typical designer price. They also host the whiteXchange, which is the web-based listing service for buyers and sellers of gowns who aren't local to Chicago.
