This next wedding is brought to us by the always wonderful Heather O'Mara Photography. Heather is a photog we haven't worked with during an event (...yet!), but we keep close tabs on her work all the time to see what she's been shooting around the Philly area.

Royal Wedding - The Belles Dish

Our invitation may have gotten lost in the mail, but we caught a good chunk of the royal wedding this morning while prepping for work - Oh, the glamour!  The nonstop speculative coverage over the past few months was a bit much but how fun to see an event like this live and of course dish afterwards. Some of the highlights for us:

The Dress:  The perfect choice for a princess, a timeless look with modern interpretation in the streamlined bodice.  The reception dress is nothing to sniff at either, and we suspect brides will be pulling inspiration from both ensembles for years to come.

The Bridal "Look" and The Jewels:  When a bride is this gorgeous, natural makeup and hair is the way to go, and will keep wedding pictures from looking dated for decades. Her happiness was so apparent too, she's every bit the blushing bride.  When when you're a brand new member of the royal family, there's bound to be some serious sparkle. The combination of the lace trimmed veil, delicate diamond tiara, and drop earrings was so pretty.

The Trees:  The live trees lining the aisle were genius decor solution for the grand scale and high ceilings of the ceremony space.  They provided interest while managing to not compete with the architecture. The fact that the trees will be planted at the family home is touching and eco-friendly.

Destination Inspiration: Cherry Blossoms in the Nation's Capital

Spring is a really beautiful time of year in the DC area. Starting in late March, the weather takes a turn toward pleasant, and the Tidal Basin erupts with millions of tiny pink and white cherry blossoms. The pretty blooms are a favorite among local brides, and this is a very popular time of year to tie the knot or snap some engagment photos.

Daffodil Days

It's official, the clocks have sprung forward and the first daffodils of the season have been spotted.  These cheerful pretties are the perfect way to brighten up a Tuesday morning.

Blame it On the Rain

Lots of couples plan spring weddings for the mild temperatures and bright freshly bloomed flowers.  Spring weddings are gorgeous, but in many parts of the country, it's also the rainy season.  Rain on a wedding day can throw a wrench in the plans, especially if anything is scheduled for the outdoors.  On the upside, there's an opportunity to sport some fun wet weather accessories that make for memorable photo ops.  Every (rain) cloud has a silver lining!

Real Weddings: Tim & Kacy, Rain in the Park

My husband's best friend got married over the weekend.  The ceremony was scheduled for 3:00pm on Saturday, and at about 2:45, it started to rain.  A drizzle at first, the ceremony was postponed for a few minutes to see if things would let up.  There was no plan B for rain (the forecast that day hadn't called for a storm) and when the rain subsided, the groomsmen wiped the white chairs dry and guests hurried into their seats.  

The first notes of Pachelbel's Canon floated into the air and at the same moment heavy raindrops began to fall from the sky, much harder than before.  Not a single guest stood up from their seat and without skipping a beat, the bride walked down the aisle with a smile on her face.  These two were married under a pink umbrella, and from the look on their faces, they wouldn't have had it any other way.

I guess coming from a planner, the moral of the story would be to be prepared for the unexpected.  At this wedding, I wasn't a planner, though. I was a guest and a friend of the couple and even though it rained, I have never seen these two more happy.  Weather is a great metaphor for marriage - sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, and there's nothing much you can do about it but carry an umbrella.
